I really wanted to make some small dice bags, something that would be quick and easy to work up while still looking nice. I tried first with some mosaic patterns I found online but I quickly found that–while the patterns themselves were lovely!–the repeat sections were too large for the size of bag I wanted to make.
So I got to work making my own, and ended up making three! All of these charts features a repeat section of only 4 stitches. This makes them ideal for small projects, though they would still look nice on a larger scale as well!
These charts range from Easy to Intermediate difficulty. They each use a small number of special stitches, and if you’re working a project in the round (like a dice bag) two of them use Partial Diagonal stitches.

An ad-free, printable PDF of this pattern is available on both Etsy and Ravelry! The PDF features:
- All three charts
- Instructions for a dice bag, approx. 3.5 in by 4.5 in
- Instructions for all special stitches
While I’ve made a lot of these bags out of cotton, the yarn used in the examples shown here is Caron Simply Soft. It’s the best acrylic yarn I’ve found for mosaic crochet!
The colors used here are Sunshine & Pistachio, Spring Brook & White, and Autumn Red & Soft Pink. You can find those and other colors here!
